Support the Dragon Master Foundation! #RevlonMillion #FiredUp4Cancer, #cancer

Disclosure: I was not compensated for this post. The information was provided by CureClick

The Dragon Master Foundation was founded by Amanda Haddock in honor of her son, David, who passed away from brain cancer at the age of 18. Their goal is to develop a large-scale database that will house molecular, genetic, clinical and environmental data. By giving researchers free access to the database, the foundation empowers all researchers and institutions to collaborate on finding a cure to cancer.
Help the Dragon Master Foundation raise funds for the Revlon Love is On, Million Dollar Challenge. If we raise $50,000 by October 5th, the foundation will be able to pitch a partnership idea to the executives at Revlon.

Natural Balance Celebrates National Guide Dog Month With the Top Human-Canine Teams Who Make Us Believe #guidedogmonth #spon @naturalbalance

Disclosure: I received an assortment of doggie products from Natural Balance in exchange for posting the below information om my blog. However, all opinions are my own. work in the middle of Times
—it’s her everyday life

Source: Guide Dogs for the Blind
Have you ever seen a visually impaired person in public and didn't know how to react, or felt awkward? Have you ever wondered what it's like to 'see' through the eyes of their guide dog? I know I have.
September is National Guide Dog Month, so I decided to learn more about what it might be like for people who are blind or visually impaired.
I'm partnering with Natural Balance (the maker of premium-quality pet food) and Guide Dogs for the Blind (a non-profit charitable organization that raises and trains exceptional guide dogs to serve the blind and visually impaired) to recognize the 'Top Human-Canine Teams Who Make Us Believe.'
These nine teams are outstanding examples of the amazing partnerships possible between humans and canines. I was particularly inspired by Ashleigh and his guide dog Yuri, and I want to share their story with you:

Imagine, for a brief moment, what it would be like to work in the middle of Times Square in New York City. Imagine weaving through the large crowds, the bustling commotion, and the pulsing energy at every corner. Now, imagine trying to do this without your eyesight. For Ashleigh Hertzig, this is not just an imaginary scenario—it’s her everyday life.

Visually impaired since birth, Ashleigh used a cane to get around for years—but found that it became increasingly difficult to be mobile during the wintertime due to dangerous patches of ice on the pavement. These harsh winter conditions—combined with encouragement from her family—got her to consider the possibility of a guide dog.

Ashleigh grew up terrified of dogs, but as she began researching Guide Dogs for the Blind, she felt that their positive reinforcement philosophy matched her personal beliefs and values. So she took a leap of faith. When Yuri—a Guide Dogs for the Blind-trained yellow Lab—first walked into her life, Ashleigh remembers he was so excited that he couldn’t stop sneezing. Now, over two years later, they’re so connected that she can’t imagine life without him.

“Being paired with Yuri has changed my life in so many ways. In addition to being my eyes, keeping me safe, and giving me independence, he has also become my best friend—and is constantly by my side,” says Ashleigh. Without Yuri, Ashleigh may have never developed the confidence and independence needed to fulfill her dream of living and working in New York City. She is now able to navigate the city’s fast-paced subway system every day, feeling fully safe and cared for.

As Ashleigh's story shows, in addition to providing enhanced mobility, guide dogs can also be a social bridge, opening a world of possibilities for friendship and human connection.
To help people like Ashleigh thrive, please consider donating to Guide Dogs to the Blind. Once there, you can also read about the eight other amazing human-canine teams. There's no better time than National Guide Dog Month to show your support for these incredible people and their four-legged superheroes.

To those like Ashleigh, dogs are much more than companions, they are life-giving. Just like the bond Ashleigh has with Yuri, my bound with my little dogs Bama and Little Girl is love without boundaries.
Do you have a special bond with your pet? Tell me about it in the comments below.

3 Back-to-School Morning Routine Tips For the Whole Family #Sponsored #milkbone @milkbone

Posted by Debra Ann Elliott at 7:24 AM 0 comments
Disclosure: I received an assortment of Milk-Bone products as well as information in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Dogs and their human companions have something very important in common: both are creatures of habit.
With school about to start—it's the perfect time to make sure the whole family gets off on the right paw with the right habits at the start of the day. (And it's so much more fun when the whole family is involved!) !

Bama and Little Girl love waking the entire family up every morning and we love giving them yummy Milk-Bone treats made especially for sensitive tummies.

While our family enjoys a morning routine of bacon and eggs, Bama and Little Girl  enjoy Milk-Bone good morning Daily Vitamin Treats.

1Get active with your four-legged trainer in the morning.
40% of doggy mommies and daddies do healthy things with their pups at the same time that they do healthy things for their families. By adding doggy exercise to the rest of your family's morning routine, your dog can actually begin to encourage the rest of your family to stay active!
2. Involve your kids in caring for Fido (and for themselves).
Dogs, just like young kids, need role models. 57% of dog parents who also have human children involve their kids in caring for their pet—instilling responsibility and good daily habits like brushing their teeth and taking their vitamins.
3. Make sure your dog consistently receives the nutrients necessary to live a long and happy life.
1 in 3 pet parents are confused about what's needed for proper pet nutrition, meaning many pup parents are unaware that their dogs' diets may be lacking in essential nutrients.  Milk-Bone Good Morning Daily Vitamin Treats were created specifically to promote your dog's well-being and longevity. So when you're giving your kids their daily vitamins, remember that your pup needs their nutrient-packed treats too.  Your dog adds so much to the family—make sure to take care of him/her for the long-term!

#SocialSummer Hometown Tourist #1 Birmingham, AL #socialinsiders

Join me on a hometown tour of Birmingham, Alabama. I have lived in Birmingham all of my life and never realized there was so much fun waiting to happen.

Vulcan Park and Museum

If you want to see Birmingham up close and personal, Vulcan Park atop Birmingham's Red Mountain is the first place to stop.

Vulcan is the world's largest cast iron statue; made of 100,000 pounds of iron and 56 feet tall, he stands atop of Red Mountain overlooking the city of Birmingham. Vulcan, the Roman god of fire and forge, was originally created in 1904 as Birmingham's exhibit to the St. Louis World's Fair to showcase the city's booming iron industry. But, Vulcan is more than a statue. Vulcan Park and Museum features spectacular panoramic views of Birmingham and surrounding areas from an open-air observation balcony atop the statue’s 124-foot pedestal. Visitors can enjoy interactive indoor and outdoor exhibits and displays that give insight into the region's geology, history and industrial growth as well as a beautiful 10-acre urban green space. With an official information center that is operated by the Greater Birmingham Convention and Visitors Bureau, Vulcan Park and Museum serves as the first stop for visitors to the Birmingham area.

The Birmingham Zoo

Just down the road from iconic Vulcan is the famous Birmingham Zoo. One of Birmingham's most famous attraction, the Birmingham Zoo is home to many exotic animals as well as other cool attractions.

The Birmingham Zoo is Alabama’s must-see attraction, drawing more than 575,000 visitors annually. Approximately 950 animals of 230 species call the 122-acre Birmingham Zoo home, including sea lions, rhinos and endangered species from six continents.

Birmingham Botanical Gardens

Your visit isn't complete, unless you visit Birmingham's beautiful Botanical Gardens home to beautiful floral and fauna.

No trip to Birmingham is complete without a visit to Railroad Park and a Birmingham Baron's baseball game.

Railroad Park

This urban park in the middle of Birmingham inspires you to get back to nature and take in the scenic view of Birmingham.

Railroad Park is a 19 acre green space in downtown Birmingham that celebrates the industrial and artistic heritage of our great city. Situated along 1st Avenue South, between 14th and 18th Streets, the park is a joint effort between the City of Birmingham and the Railroad Park Foundation. Hailed as "Birmingham's Living Room," Railroad Park provides a historically rich venue for local recreation, family activities, concerts, and cultural events, while connecting Birmingham's downtown area with Southside and UAB's campus.

The Birmingham Barons and Regions Field

If you love baseball, look no further than the Birmingham Barons, Birmingham's hometown baseball team.
In April of 2013, the Birmingham Barons Baseball Club played their first game in their new ballpark, Regions Field. The state-of-the-art 8,500 seat facility in the heart of downtown replaced Hoover Metropolitan Stadium, the home of the Barons since 1988. The crown jewel of Birmingham's newly developed Parkside District, features a variety of unique seating areas, creating an intimate atmosphere and offering unique views of the downtown skyline, UAB, Children's Hospital, Vulcan and Red Mountain.

I hope you have enjoyed my hometown tour to Birmingham. Y'all come back now, ya hear!
