KINDNESS

A gentle answer turns away wrath,
but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Proverbs 15:1 NIV

How many times do you lose your temper? You're probably tempted to answer none, but if you're human and have children you have at one time or other lost your temper in anger. We all have. We're only human after all.

One of my favorite scriptures is Proverbs 15:1. This scripture talks about being gentle(kind).  As a parent who speaks in harness how can you expect your child to speak in kindness(or even act in kindness)?

Wrath, harshness and anger should not be the threads that holds your family together. Harsh words stir up anger and wrath will swirl within your family structure. I know!

If you practice kindness in your words; your child will not only learn to be gentle and kind, but they will learn a valuable lesson that will last a lifetime.

How many times have words of kindness quelled the anger inside your soul?

How many times have harsh words escaped from your mouth you wish you could take back?

It's difficult to have it both ways and practice what you preach. Christian parent's can't really have it both ways, harshness has no place in your home.

Kindness is the main thread that weaves your family into a beautiful tapestry woven together with threads of love, peace, gentleness, joy, self-control, faithfulness, and goodness. These "threads" are the Fruits of the Spirit. Your tapestry is woven by the hands of God,but it takes your "threads" to complete it.

Start with kindness. Speak with a gentle answer to chase away wrath. Do not stir up anger with harsh words.

The "threads" for your family's tapestry can be strong when created with Fruits of the Spirit or they can break when woven with the destruction of anger, wrath and harness.

What is your tapestry woven with?
